Introduction:

Discipline comes from the Latin word dicipulus' which means disciple. It is the obedience to the rules and regulations. It is the root of all other virtues. 

Value of Discipline:

The value of discipline is very great. As a social being, man has to abide by some rules and regulations to maintain peace and happiness in the society. A man without discipline cannot shine in life. The family, the society, the office and the state cannot go without discipline.

Some Examples of discipline:

Nature:

Discipline is followed everywhere in nature. The earth, the moon, the stars and all the planets move around the sun according to certain rules. Without discipline in nature, the world would have been destroyed. 

Educational Institutions:

Discipline is very necessary in schools and colleges. Students must attend the classes in time, obey the rules of the school and carry out the orders of the teachers. In fact, teaching and learning will not be possible without discipline. 

The Army:

Discipline is strictly  followed in the army. In the battle field it is a must. Soldiers carry out the orders of the commander without any question. 

Games and Sports:

In the playground the players must obey the rules. They obey the captain of their team. Otherwise, they are sure to lose the game.

Conclusion:

Human society is based on discipline. It is the root of all happiness and success. A life without discipline is like a ship without a rudder. So we must cultivate this virtue from our childhood. We must observe it at all stages in life.
