Jute is mainly grown in Bangladesh. It grows very well in Mymensingh and Faridpur. It is also grown in India, Thailand and China. But Bangladesh grows the best jute.
Cultivation:
At first, the land is ploughed well. Then, it is manured well. It is leveled again and again. Then the farmers sow the seeds in the months of March and April after a shower of rain. Plants come out in a few days. The fields are weeded. After three or four months the plants grow into their full size. They become ten to twelve feet high. Next, the jute plants are cut down and tied up in bundles. After that, they are kept under water. They get often. The fiber is taken out from the stalks and washed in water. Then it is dried in the sun and made ready for sale.
