Introduction:

Bangladesh is a land of birds. Birds have made our country beautiful. We sleep at night and rise early in the morning hearing the sweet songs of birds. They are really the gifts of nature.

Kinds:

There are different kinds of birds in our country. They differ in size, colour and habit. They can be divided into many classes.

Usefulness:

Birds are very useful. They are essential for our environment. They keep it neat and clean. They help to maintain the ecological balance. Besides, we also eat the flesh and eggs of some birds.

Common birds:

The crow:

The crow is the most common of all birds. It is a teasing bird. It is very clever. It looks ugly. But it is useful. It feeds on dirty things. 

Singing birds:

The cuckoo, the shyama, the doel, the koel, the myna, the nightingale etc are known as singing birds. The cuckoo is the most popular of these birds. The doel is our national bird.

Game birds:

The dove, the pigeon, the pankari etc are called game birds. They are famous for their flesh.

Plundering birds:

The kite, vulture, and the hawk are called plundering birds. They often prey upon chickens and ducklings. They have keen eyes and sharp nails.

Tailor birds:

Some birds build their nest with great skill. They are called tailor birds. The swallow, the tuntuni and babui are the tailor birds.

Domestic birds:

The hen, the cook, the duck, the swan, the pigeon etc are domestic birds. They are found in almost every house in our country. We eat their flesh and eggs. Talking birds: The myna, the parrot and the shyama are known as talking birds

Birds of prey:

The crane, the kingfisher and the heron are called the birds of prey.
Nocturnal birds: The owl and the bat are nocturnal birds. They come out at night.

Guest birds:

Many birds come to our country from foreign countries during autumn and winter. They are called guest birds. 

Other birds:

We find some other birds like the wood pecker, the robin, the bau-katha kao, the kakatua etc.

Conclusion:

Birds are our natural wealth. They are helpful and useful. We should not kill them. We should show kindness to them.
